The Right Light For Bright Growing

If you are moving your garden from outdoors to indoors then you need to rethink your entire growing philosophy. While the principles of water, nutrients and light remain the same for growing any type of indoor plant, the sources of those core elements will be wildly different especially when it comes to delivery systems. The biggest change you’ll discover with indoor growing will be that light source. Although you’ll have some options with regard to grow lights to pick from, many successful indoor growers attest to the benefits of LED grow lights as the most productive way to yield a large crop.

LED stands for “light emitting diode”. What that actually means is that an electric current rides through various semi-conducting alloys that in turn produce electrons which make photons. These photons are the fragments of light you see produced by LED grow lights. With today’s sophisticated manufacturing technology the costs for LED grow lights has been sharply reduced. Now more and more savvy growers are turning to LED to provide their plants with an exclusive source of light. Keep in mind that with LED grow lights you’re not just getting the benefit of white light but also blue and red.

To understand the amazing benefits of LED grow lights you should understand some of the basic biology around plant growth. Most of the earth’s vegetation gets its light source from that big ball of energy in the sky, the sun. However, plants only need a small fraction of the entire spectrum of electromagnetic light that the sun radiates down upon the planet. When a grower can focus those specific wavelengths as they can with LED grow lights then they are essentially flushing out the waste and letting the plants thrive on a direct source. The process by which a plant converts light into carbon dioxide is called photosynthesis. Without that, there is not flora and fauna.

Red LED grow lights were first introduced in the indoor growing field back in the 60’s. Then it was discovered that the red lights were perfect for stimulating the bloom on a plant. Blue light came along around ten years later and was found to be a great benefit with the leafy variety of plants. Working in combination in grow lights these two forms of LED pack quite the punch!

Another reason why many indoor growers are switching over their old grow lights for new and improved LED grow lights is because the LEDs are more durable and last longer. Even with those qualities, the LED grow lights actually operate on less power than the traditional type of grow lights. This means less heat is generated and lower energy is expended. That’s a major plus for indoor growers. If you’re serious about bringing in a bountiful harvest of indoor plants then you need to be using the right equipment. LED grow lights could be just the light source you’re looking for.

What Will Be Obsolete Next?

Things are coming out so fast these days that they become obsolete the moment you bring them home. It seems we are always upgrading and improving technology and all their accessories. It is almost impossible to keep up with this ever growing field especially in the music division. There once was a time when all you needed to listen to your music was a turntable and a record. Back then you were considered ‘boss’ if you had the 45 adapter.

Time goes on and things evolve into more practical objects, so then appeared the eight track cassette player, which was wonderful to drive around in your car and listen to the Fifth Dimension sing about their beautiful balloon. But as the eighties grew near people decided they wanted to listen to their tunes while walking, so the walkman was invented. This at the time seemed like the best of the best. Not only could you run around with your new Cars tape playing, but you could make a mixed tape and listen to all your favorite songs in a row. Or if you were the romantic type you would stay up all night and make that perfect mixed tape for you new crush.

But low and behold this wasn’t the epitome of excellence because as the 90’S appeared on the horizon so did the compact disc. This virtually indestructible disk had a higher resolution which gave the listener a more intense musical experience. Plus you could hit a number and play whatever song you desired without having to fast-forward or rewind the entire tape.

But wait that was not the bee’s knees that everyone thought it was. As the millennium closed the iPod appeared. With this device you could download all your music and have every song on one little portable device. Of course in the last decade engineers have improved on the iPod and added lots of extras.

Now they have added a phone to go with the iPod, or is it the other way around? Either way it still seems that as soon as you get the iphone 3g and a few iphone 3gs cases for decoration, you need to upgrade. Sure enough they went and added a computer to all of it and in one bundle you have the ipod 4g with more ipod 4g cases and accessories than anyone in the seventies could have ever dreamed of.

It might seem that we are at out zenith with our ipod 4g’s and those new silicone ipod 4g cases, but imagine what we will be listening to in the year 2020 or what about 2050? Those iphone 3gs cases will be in some museum of retro objects of the past, probably right next to a shag green carpet.
